Dos narrativas de Mariel: muestrario de perdedores y suicidas

Este trabajo aborda la función de la derrota en dos obras de autores de la emigración cubana de la década del ochenta, conocida como la generación del Mariel. Analizo el primer texto escrito por Reinaldo Arenas una vez que llega al exilio, “Final de un cuento” (1982), y publicado en el número inaugural de la revista Mariel (1983-1985). Comparo al héroe perdedor en el cuento de Arenas con el protagonista de la novela de Guillermo Rosales La casa de los náufragos (Boarding Home), de 1987. Considero que el significar la derrota como acto de resistencia frente a grupos políticos y culturales hegemónicos inscribe a los autores del Mariel dentro de un corpus de literatura latinoamericana migrante del cual tradicionalmente se les ha excluido.
