Luego de un primer rastreo de los principales espacios y referentes culturales germanos en la narrativa de Roberto Bolaño, este artículo analiza los modos lingüísticos y textuales de su surgimiento, desaparición y reaparición ficcionales. A partir de los precedentes de Jorge Luis Borges y Philip K. Dick a mediados de siglo, se cotejan las principales experiencias de alteración y alteridad que esa Alemania ficcional forjó en el proceso creativo de Bolaño entre 1980 y 2003 hasta convertirse en un elemento decisivo de su propia identidad literaria latinoamericana.
