Kawaii y kawaisō La representación de trastornos psicológicos en la cultura popular japonesa

Partiendo de un análisis de la estética kawaii, en el presente artículo se investigan las representaciones de trastornos psicológicos en la cultura popular japonesa, considerando los discursos dominantes sobre salud mental y las estructuras de poder que los sustentan. Se argumenta, con una perspectiva de genero, que las representaciones en las que se estetiza la vulnerabilidad a través de la estética kawaii reflejan los estigmas y estereotipos asignados a las personas con trastornos psicológicos, desactivando los posibles discursos insurgentes mediante mercantilización y fetichización, y reafirmando así la autoridad de los discursos hegemónicos
