Interculturalidad, traducción y mediación cultural en la Era Meiji : $b Okakura Kakuzô y El libro del Té

The aim of this paper is to analyse the text, context and pretext of one of the representative work of the Nihonjinron discourse at the beggining of 20th century: The Book of Tea, by Okakura Kakuzô, one of the Japanese authors/translators who pioneered intercultural studies and the dissemination of the concepts and values of Japanese culture in the West. Okakura wrote The Book of Tea in English, so it is considered a "self-translation". The author translates and reinterprets the Zen ritual of the tea ceremony for Western readers at a time when Japanese culture was little known outside of Japan.
