Quantum mechanics are provoking a scientific paradigm shift due to concepts like randomness or non locality, which describe a totally different reality from the universe of the old Newtonian determinism. In many cases, such concepts are similar to some features characterizing the fictions created by Magical Realism, an Hispano-American literary trend whose influence on Japan has been studied in the novels by Kenzaburo Oe or Haruki Murakami. Several of their works display worlds challenging the traditional and rationalist logics that guided the view of the universe imagined by Newton, and offering ethical alternatives to the extreme contemporary individualism by representing a magically interrelated world.
