Joaquín Fulleda
This paper presents in a synthetic way much of the debate generated by the introduction of new technologies of information and communication (ICT) in social movements and social phenomena surrounding features such as the so-called smart mobs or cibermobs. It analyzes the mutual influence between social movements and distributed networks of the Internet, giving rise to social movements with particular characteristics, which in turn produce new repertories of action and are subject to new risks, such as exclusion, privacy and privatization. Finally, it makes a sketch of the concept and the action of the so-called smart mobs or cibermobs highlighting the role of Internet activist, trusted networks and alternative media developments.
