Infografía y Patrimonio Arquitectónico

This paper offers a theoretical overview about virtual representations in architecture and points to the transcendence of technological change, reflects on the necessary caution to be taken in relation to these kind of representations and defends an own scientific area. It also criticises certain parochial issues in their dissemination pointing to specific criteria for their popularization and lists the reasons that made necessary the digitalised representation of heritage, giving some orientations about the kind of works: mistaken perceptions of archaeological remains, comparisons with real reconstructions, fragility and inaccessibility of heritage, etc. Finally it establishes the necessity of a specific theory pointing to ideas such: emotional representation of space; virtual heritage, modelling of the history of graphic expression and recovery of living experiences.
