Abstract Ideological motivations of terminological variation in gender-based violence

Terms vary, both in concept and in denomination. This variation is affected by ideological motivation, which we can trace from the usage of denominative variation (Cabré, 1999; Freixa, 2002; Fernández-Silva, 2011). Here we explore these causes in connection with the concept of gender-based violence to observe the change of preferences from 1994 to 2019 and to understand the use of the respective terms in political manifestos.
