Digital segregation in Latin America and the Caribbean: reflection of social inequality and technological dependency

The new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) diffusion is enclosed by the rise of digital segregation. In Latin America and the Caribbean the digital segregation is wide, and includes the industrial dynamic, the educative system and the technological innovation. The social inequality is constituted a key factor to explain this situation. In the context of a world that is prone to be more interconnected and in which the knowledge is significant for all productive activities, the digital segregation represents an important challenge for the whole region.
