This communication attempts to analize some variable that influenced on the expansion of the gas networks in three Spanish cities: Barcelona, Málaga and Madrid. The first of this cities, subject of a previous research, will be used as a reference framework to analyze the development of the gas networks in the other two cities. Undoubtedly, the different characteristics of the three contexts exercise outstanding his influence on that development. Between others, the composition of demand, the type of industrial framework and the entrepreneurial behaviors were some of the causes that determined the different degree of articulation of gas networks and their influence on the territory.
