The article is based on a draft of the doctoral dissertation "Stadens rasifiering.Etnisk boendesegregation i folkhemmet. Molina, Irene, 1997, (The Racialization of the City. Ethnic Residential Segregation in the Swedish Folkhem)." This dissertation approaches the phenomenon of ethnic residential segregation in Sweden from a critical perspective in which the structures of social, and in particular of racial relations are central aspects. The part of the dissertation summarized in this article is a cluster analysis, which is carried out in the medium-sized Swedish city of Uppsala, in which more than one hundred urban statistical districts are involved. The resulting residential patterns from this clustering indicate that a spatial division of residence along racial lines to some extent is taking place in Uppsala, as it is can be the case in other Swedish cities.
