The heart is one of the main Bible anthropology core symbols. As we see in the firsts chapters of the present essay, through both Old and New Testaments we discover a human person who can be defined as a free being. Therefore, he is somehow mysterious, and he expresses and builds himself up in each single decision he takes, either facing or rejecting God. Following a brief historical outlook to the heart on the Church tradition, in the last chapter we realize how this biblical symbol throws light upon some pivotal and present moral theology concepts, such as moral conscience
(each single ethical decision is the main issue in this case), the so-called "fundamental option" (through which the human being decides himself before God), or the person concept itself (the most important fact
which unifies and makes human freedom possible).
