Catholicity: mystical experience; profound knowledge of Living Tradition and of the
cultural trends of his time; a concern for pastoral matters and for Faith-Culture dialogue;
preoccupation for Catholic integrality, for unity and for ecclesial and universal discernment;
all these latter theological realities are key to understanding and epitomizing the
thinking of this great theologian. H. de Lubac’s theological perceptions may be summed
up in the following manner: «God is always the same; theology comes after;
Jesuschrist is at the centre of the Christian mystery and is the model of new man; Tradition
is the fountain of renewal; true theology always leads to mystical experience. His
