A què ens referim quan parlem de Moviment Social? Com podem analitzar-lo?

Josep Pont i Vidal
Among the diverse forms of collective action we are currently living, there is an inflation of concepts. Different theorists define them in various
ways: whilst ones speak about the continuity of the New Social Movements, others talk about urban social movements (USM), and even the "newest" social movements, and unidentified mass actions, etc. In many cases, there is still confusion when trying to distinguish between social movements and political movements. The article has two parts: First. this phenomenon is conceptualised starting from the possibilities and limitations of the viewpoints of resource mobilisation and historicity. Second, we propose an operational model to
analyse social movements, which summarises the macro and micro levels, defined
as mobilisation on a macroscale (groups that make up and take part in the movement), and mobilisation on a microscale (personal reasons for a nonconventional participation).
