A car customized with fascists and Francoist motifs would circle around the Rambla of Figueres. Our project’s aim was to stimulate the reflection on the persistence of Franco’s ideology and the rising of fascist attitudes, ghostly present both in institutional policies and civil society in Spanish state and rest of Europe. However, this project has been censored by the city council before its inauguration. This incident has been followed by the national press and has generated a strong debate on social networks concerning the use of fascist symbols, of public space, the role of art, censorship and Franco’s legitimacy in Spanish state.
