Juventud árabe mediterránea: participación política y religiosa

Con los datos de la SAHWA Youth Survey 2016 (2017), este artículo presenta un estudio del grado y los tipos de participación política y religiosa –así como los vínculos que existen entre una y otra– de los jóvenes de cinco países árabes mediterráneos (Marruecos, Argelia, Túnez, Egipto y Líbano). En política, se distinguen cuatro tipos de participación: oficial, cotidiana, comunitaria y de protesta. Entre el 5% y el 17% de los encuestados podrían ser considerados hiperactivistas, al participar en tres o cuatro de estos tipos; en alrededor de un tercio, no se produciría ningún tipo de participación. Por otra parte, la mayoría de los jóvenes se consideran muy religiosos y, en tres de los países, una tercera parte acudiría a la mezquita al menos tres veces por semana. Pero los niveles de religiosidad no influyen en la participación política, ya que incluso la mayoría de los muy religiosos son partidarios de separar política y religión.
