O Papel da Economia Ecológica nas Políticas Públicas da América Latina: Consenso Latino-Americano da Reunião da ISEE em Washington

After two years of conversation, the regional societies indicated, institutional authors, reached this consensus on the role of the ecological economy in public policy in Latin America, covering the following ten themes: Indicators of well-being appropriate to socio-environmental sustainability; Unlinking economic growth from energy and material intensive use, as well as from environmental degradation (decoupling in English); Technological innovation with reduction of environmental impacts, generation of employment and social benefits; Universalization of low carbon agriculture in all scales; Equitable evaluation and distribution of the benefits of ecosystem services; Sustainable management of increasingly scarce natural resources; Sustainable, fair and creative cities; Empowerment of indigenous peoples and local communities to exercise and question the need for major projects; Ecocentric ethics and awareness;  environmental justice with a better distribution of power and organization of governance of the global system.
