Religions constitute one of humankind’s most valued cultural manifestations, as well as being a source of wisdom. They embrace questions on the origin and future of the universe, the destiny of mankind and the meaning, or meaninglessness, of human existence. Religious institutions have frequently operated as a source of fanaticism and intolerance, and as a violent factor. Humanity needs religions that encourage peaceful cooperation between its peoples and the recognition of all its cultures.
