Juan Durán (Vigo, 1960) is one of Galicia’s most renowned current composers. A member of the so-called Generación de la apertura, and founder of the Asociación Gallega de Compositores, in 1987, his catalogue consists of more than 70 compositions, of which most notable are the various chamberistic works, the O Arame opera, first shown in La Coruña in 2008 and published in 2009, and his orchestral work, of which most noteworthy is the medieval poem Finisterrae, para múltiples voces de luz, written for orchestra and choir in 1999. This article explores the analysis of this score, as well as the aspects that make up the stylistic features of Galician musician.
