La primera instrucció llatina en català a la Menorca del segle XVII: Les adaptacions del Semperi i de Les rudimens de François Bistac

Abstract

This paper studies the presence of Andreu Sempere’s Prima linguae latinae insitutio as a textbook during the 18th century in the island of Menorca, together with its manuscript survival in Catalan. In addition to that, it also analyses the publication of Antoni Portell,’s Nou mèthodo per aprendrer la llengua llatina, for which Les rudimens de la langue latine, by Fr,nçois Bistac, is claimed as its source. Comments on the Latin instruction at the time, the cultural background of both volumes and some linguistic remarks are also given.
