Cien ciudades para la Pampa: idea, técnica y construcción de la forma urbana en las nuevas ciudades del siglo XIX de la provincia de Buenos Aires

ENG: In the process of formation of Argentinean state after the Independence, the notion of regularization of the state was central. In this
sense, an important variable in building the new country was knowing and occupying the territory to make it produce. To reach this
objective, a new state institution was created –the Topographic Department–, as also a normative about how this city had to be. The
result, about a hundred new cities, demonstrates the close connection between ideas and the shape of the city and, at the same time, shows
the important work of the professionals in charge of making the city a way to civilize the Pampa region.
