ENG: The use of underground spaces has been permanently associated with the development of cities. That is why urban
space limitations cause increased groundwater use: to preserve the traditional urban composition and its
importance in maintaining its identity. The case study, the basement of Barcelona, has never been drawn or
addressed in its entirety and complexity. This study should allow to bring out a new interpretation of the city and
also detect its intensity and specific morphology. In short, the study of ground must ensure good governance of the
city's urban future.
