The identity that characterizes political minorities is associated with categories through which they are characterized as incompatible. The objective is to understand the phenomenon of repre-sentativeness associated with political minorities by conducting a systematic review of the Brazili-an literature, as well as the reflection and problematization of the concepts raised. The de-scriptors are "representativeness" and "identity" in the databases IndexPsi, Pepsic, Scielo and Capes Publications, for the time period 2000-2018. In all, 35 articles were included, which presented descriptors to social groups in the abstract. The concept of representativeness, as an empower-ment social mechanism of minority groups, presents difficulties of standardization given the com-plexity of social relations; demanding the election of influential authors in the political and cul-tural layers in the recognition of the identity of the group and in the defense of their own inter-ests, in overcoming feelings imminent to inequalities and in the reformulation of power relations.
