Política Nacional de Assistência Social e Governamentalidade : algumas problematizações

In this essay I discuss the social protection practices proposed by the National Social Wel-fare Policy (PNAS) in Brazil and problematize the effects produced by this public policy as it points certain ways of relating, thinking and living. I put in analysis its mode of op-eration as biopolitical technology for the production of life. The triggering plan for the analysis was focused on the income distribution program and its conditionalities, the use of the Cadastro Único and the active search in the socioassistential surveillance based on continuous monitoring and the centrality of the family in the interventions. The main in-terlocutor of this writing was Michel Foucault in providing conceptual tools on govern-mentality and biopolitical strategies to understand the reality constituted by knowledge-power relations that make it possible to deconstruct the naturalized truths that limit the creation of other forms of understanding.
