Energies renovables i món rural: desigualtats i democràcia

Taking as a starting point what was argued in a 1985 publication on renewable
energy and rural areas, the question is raised about the role to be
played by rural areas and the people who live and work there in the supply of
energy for both their own and outside needs, based in this case on equitable
and fair relations of exchange, leaving behind the extractivist worldview to
adopt a mutual, cooperative approach. To achieve this aim, this paper proposes
that efforts should be made to allow the democratization of energy
systems, setting forth the principles which, in the authors opinion, should
form the basis of the energy democracy, and the role that should be played in
this respect by decentralized or distributed energy systems in conjunction
with the emerging new basic rights and responsibilities in the field of energy.
