The end of the Upper Palaeolithic in Castellón: a key territory to understand the end of the Pleistocene in Mediterranean Iberia

This paper offers a state of the art review of the human occupations spanning the period between 15000 and 11700 cal BP (12500-10000 BP) in the current province of Castellón. Following a shortdescription of the archaeological and/or artistic contexts published so far we will sum up and critically evaluate the main contributions of these lands to current debates on the definition of the postmagdalenian sequence, the elements of continuity and change between the final Upper Magdalenianand the Epimagdalenian, and the persistence of the Palaeolithic artistic cycle.
