The book exposes a key moment where different social and cultural changes occur that made the writing of a new Political Constitution in Chile possible. In this process, the indigenous peoples participated in the drafting of the Fundamental Charter, which was later rejected in a constitutional plebiscite. For the first time, indigenous communities had the opportunity to intervene through reserved seats, negotiating their place within the institutions of the State, encouraging the formation of a Plurinational and Intercultural State, and participating in the creation of a project of capitalist resistance based on sabotage of forestry, hydroelectric and large landowner companies in Mapuche territories (Padilla & Vallejos, 2011). 

Pairican's work (2022) takes a historical and contemporary tour of the relationship between the Chilean State and the Mapuche people, examining the conflicts over land ownership in the south of the country, the sale of these upon the arrival of the European population to said territories which have generated confrontations between the Mapuche people and the State. On the other hand, the social outbreak of October 2019 emerged as a protest against the increase in transportation prices during the government of former President Sebastián Piñera or with the rejection of the Constitutional proposal in September 2022. For this reason, the author articulates the demands exposed of autonomy, recognition and restitution of their territories.
