This text reproduces the lecture that Isidoro Moreno, then director of the Institute for Latin American Studies of the University of Seville (IEAL), held at the Museum of the Dominican Man, in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), on February 1, 2011. The text develops a critical analysis of the concepts of globalization and cultural diversity, pointing out their dangers and socio-political potentialities.
