The documents of the catalan parish of Sant Marí de Riner, in the Solsonès, are an excellent witness of the French migratory wave between the years 1500 and 1700. In Riner this wave is characterized by having a high percentage of French priests escaping from religious persecution, but it is also unique due to the relationship between this foreign population and the catholic sanctuary of el Miracle, which hosted a large number of immigrants from the kingdom of France, many of whom played a key role in the construction and operation of the sanctuary. The presence of these individuals not only had demographic repercussions in the native population of the territory, but also had effects on local architecture, religious life or rural daily life. The object of study of this communication is precisely the identity of these individuals, as well as their role in the sanctuary, the territory of the lower Solsonès and the Central Catalonia through the modern period.
