One of the current debates in nature philosophy focuses on the continuous or discontinuous structure of the world. This invites us to look – as part of a basic assumption – at the origin of an old and interesting debate which will open a sincere and profound discussion. It departs from the Pythagorean School passing by Parmenides including Zeno and Aristotle as the main thinkers, revealing the “rupture” between the real and the apparent. Conclusion: the debate in science continues to be in force.
