This study collects and analyses the different surnames of Catalan origin recorded in the city of Elx from the 13th to the 20th century. The surnames of settlers from the north of Catalonia who arrived in the south of Valencia in the 13th century and settled there have, with varying degrees of fortune, survived to the present-day in Baix Vinalopó and, more specifically, in Elx and its adjacent districts. This article seeks to monitor the presence of these surnames and to verify their continuing use today.
