A comparison of the traditional place names that appear on the Puertomingalvo- La Peñagolosa Aragonesa map with the toponyms of the corresponding IGN maps exposes ‘bad’ onomastic practices in part of the labels of the official cartography of the 20th and 21st centuries. A systematic study of these bad practices facilitates their verification, interpretation and confirmation (or invalidation) by other researchers and offers a possible framework that can be applied to other toponymic studies.
