This article studies the different versions of the Dutch assault on Macao in 1622. It exposes the previous context, the battlefield and its development, analyzing some traditionally ignored aspects. The most original contribution is found in the discovery of the participation of Spanish troops, a situation that shows that the legal separation of the kingdoms of the Hispanic Monarchy did not prevent collaborations at decisive moments.
