A new species of freshwater snails of the genus Corrosella is described from the province of Cádiz, Andalusia (sou-thern Spain). This is the westernmost species of the genus known so far in this region, enlarging the distribution area to more than 100 km to the west. Shell morphology, anatomy and molecular tools distinguish it safely from other species in the genus. The characteristic corrosion of upper whorls, after which the genus is named, seems caused by burrowing organisms, not by chemical action.

Paraules clau
