Señoritas y obreras bajo la tutela de la iglesia. Un estudio de la asociación de mujeres Obra Protección de Intereses Católicos de Castellón (1921-1927)

The present article tries to analyze the paper tutelary that the Church exerted on the catholic women of Castellón trough Obra Protección de Intereses Católicos and its concretion in the Sindicato Nuestra Señora de Lídón. The later years of crisis to World War I were broth of culture for the associationism and the catholic women of the average layers and the bourgeoisie of Castellón organized a feminine union, that within purest catholic orthodox of social reforming policy, tried to offer material aids to thhe workers and proposals of moral regeneration to reform to the workers and to separate them from the socialism and the anarchism. With these activities, the catholic women happen to occupy the public space, breaking the speech of the separated spheres, that only assigned to the men the social and political action.
