Los últimos años de la Nao de China: pervivencia y cambio en el comercio intercolonial novohispano-filipino

The trade links of the Manila Galleon were the first transactions set up on a global scale. Since its origins in the mid sixteenth century, it connected the coasts of the Hispanic colonies in the Philippines and New Spain through intercolonial trade which likewise connected Europe with Asia. This study maintains that the trade of the Manila Galleon did not enter a period of decline, but rather the exact opposite, remaining stable and increasing global trade. Secondly, the article maintains that the trade of the Royal Company of the Philippines was scarcely related to the development of the Galleon's trade. Thirdly, the text maintains that despite being officially dissolved by the metropolitan authorities, this trade continued at least until 1821, when Mexico became independent.
