«Bad life». Levels of violence against women in Olot and La Garrotxa (16th century)

Even if local documentation does not talk explicitly about women’s situation on 16th century, through notarial, municipal and court of law documents, we can see their routines and participation as active agents in artisanal and commercial world. We can also see the inequality and violence they were subjected to, both in the family and in the institutional sphere, such as pressures and threats or sexual aggressions. We can meet some rebel women as well, and the limits of their rebellion.
