Proposal for the standardisation in Catalan of terms of Chinese origin

The aim of this article is to examine the current situation with regard to incorporating Chinese terms into Catalan, at a time when contacts between the Chinese and Catalan cultures are on the increase and making an impact on the Catalan language. We present the most significant problems that have arisen in the adoption of Chinese terms, above all with respect to transcription-related issues, and offer proposals for the normalisation and standardisation of these terms in Catalan.
