The chronological gap between the composition of the Book of the Cook, probably from the mid-15th century, and the publication of the first known edition, printed in Barcelona in 1520, has produced a great deal of speculation on the composition and transmission of this cookbook. One is the possibility of existence of an incunabula edition allegedly printed in Toledo in 1477. This article analyses the origin of this supposed edition and concludes that it is merely bibliographic confusion, not an edition that had ever come to print.
