School, language and immigration in Catalonia. Some reflections

The article suggests that the linguistic immersion model, which has obtained excellent results in native-born pupils, is less successful when applied to foreign-born students. This is because, on the one hand, these students present huge differences with regards to their level of schooling and on the other because their attitudes towards language differ from those of their native-born counterparts. For these reasons, their linguistic performance is less satisfactory.
