Mobile technologies in libraries: where we are and where we are going

Libraries advance at differint speeds in applying mobile technology to the various aspects of their services and internal processes. In the early years of smartphones and tablets, libraries have endeavoured to adapt their content to the vari-ous screen formats, but the unstoppable march of technology promises new functions and new challenges which are already here. This article reviews the main initiatives that libraries have carried out in recent years in relation to mobile technology. The main trends in this field are identified and some significant cases are compiled with the aim of providing professionals with an overview of where we are and where we are going.
