Rethinking access to electronic resources: authenticated access through SIRE service

This article explains the changes that have occurred in 2015 at the University of Barcelona with regard to the manner in which users access the electronic resources (databases, online publications and e-books) to which the library subscribes. As from February 2015, university user access to electronic resources must be always authenticated, whether they are accessed from computers on the university campus or from devices in other locations. This  represents a substantial change to the service model, prompting a shift in user’s use of the system, and one which is not conventional in other university libraries in the region.
