Innovation at ESADE Library: the project of RFID implementation

In 2009, the ESADE Library deployed radio frequency identification technology (RFID) at its premises on the new ESADE Campus in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The project responded to the challenges posed by dividing the library into two separate facilities. The decision to deploy the RFID system was taken with a view to increasing processing efficiency in order to improve user services and to guarantee control of the library’s entire collection. The project’s twophase approach and the elements that make up the system have been described. Finally, several points to be taken into consideration when deploying this technology have also been highlighted.
