The Library of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC) has offered its services onli-ne since its creation in 1995. As a result, the Library has shown a strong commitment to new technologies throughout this time. This article offers a brief look at the library’s evolution, describing the pioneering way in which libraryservices and resources have been offered. The article also includes an analysis of the current situation and the mostimportant aspects of its services, collection management, training, and relationship with the University. To conclude, there is an outline of the major challenges that the Library will face in the coming years, focusing on users andtechnological innovations. These challenges represent objectives that will allow the Library to respond to emergingneeds and maintain its position as a world-leading virtual library.
