The concept of web accessibility is introduced, as a means of making it easier for persons with disabilities to work with the Web and of improving content usability. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), beginning with its Web Accessibility Initiative, has developed directives that are currently being adopted by different governments and organisations. The article concludes by presenting different IT tools and contact organisations that support related actions.
