The Biblioteca de Catalunya as a national library

Since the approval of Catalonia's Library System Law, the Biblioteca de Catalunya has gradually introduced functions corresponding to those of a national library. This process is reviewed in the article and some of its future priorities are pointed out: on-going training and professional recycling of staff, reconversion of the general catalogue, reinforcing the implementation and divulgation of bibliographical standards and compiling the national bibliography.
