E-books:the global digital war for the control of books

The article presents the state of the art of electronic books, from both the perspective of the reading devices as well as of books in electronic format.  It analyzes the evolution of the e-book market in recent years, the appearance of a variety of e-book readers and formats which are supported by the device manufacturers and publishers, in detriment to other formats.  Also touched upon is the influence over the new cultural uses. The text goes on to discuss the type of people who purchase e-books and the risks and opportunities faced by different agents within the book industry.
