The bibliographical patrimony and the policy of digitization in Catalonia

The article reviews the libraries digitization and digital preservation policies of bibliographical heritage in Catalonia. The article notices that digitization efforts are not made within globally accepted objectives nor planning, but with short-term and fragmented views. The article also remarks that libraries have a high dependency of external technical resources, which can be obtained by collaboration agreeements or outsourcing technical processes. In the area of digital preservation, even when digital repositories are increasing their volume, any action has been taken.
