Annibale politico : the relationship between De Sanctis and Momigliano during the Fascism

The aim of this paper is to analyze the reception of Hannibal’s legacy in Gaetano De Sanctis and Arnaldo Momigliano. We will focus on a concrete chronology that starts from the last twenties to the Ethiopian campaign (1929-1936). We conclude that the opposite viewpoints of Hannibal’s political role in the Second Punic War are due to the different cultural responses to Fascism.
