The first third of the 20th century had great relevance for the Catalan medicine because several key events took place, such as the modernization of health care system, the emergence of medical specialties, the beginning of the medical cooperativism and doctor’s remuneration, first women doctors in medical practice and the emergence of the Medical Union and scientific catalanism.
